If you discover a fire in its very early stages and think that you can deal with it yourself do so but only after:

 

1. raising the alarm

2. and making sure someone knows what you are doing.

 

You must remember however that fire can spread very quickly. Even a small contained fire, can quickly produce dangerous smoke and fumes which can kill in minutes.

 

If you are unsure if it is safe, do not tackle the fire, no matter how small.

 

If in doubt raise the alarm, leave and stay out until the Fire Service says that it is safe.
